Well, it's now turned into me reminiscing about about how good The Beautiful South when they were more Housemartins-like and before they sold out and went all middle-of-the-road.

Very good. No matter how good a relationship is, there is a large amount of arbitrainess involved.

As The Whitlams put it, "She was one in a million, which means there's five more just in New South Wales".

I often see people simply dropping litter in the street. Or dropping crap out of their car windows. It drives me nuts. I just don't understand the mentality of people who do that.

Many times, I've wanted to say something to them. But then there's the fear of reprisals. Although I'm not one to buy into media-fuelled hype about knifings, I'm sure that if I spoke up to a group of young guys about dropping their McDonald's packaging in the street, I wouldn't get a polite response.

Sadly, it would seem, there's very little we can do as individuals. But there are things that can be done as a society.

I'm not a fan of CCTV cameras everywhere, but I do love the anti-littering initiatives which use surveillance and a pa system to embarrass thoughtless idiots. Naming and shaming is the way forward!

howdy,

I have been boycotting “disposable” plastic products for 18 months. Started cos I hated what it was doing to environmnet but as I find out more, worry about what it might be doing for me. I have sourced lots of plastic free alternatives. You might find them useful. go to www.plasticisrubbish.wordpress.com

Great post. I can't wait to see it now, I'll grill you re the blood technique afterwards. I do love a bit of Jacobean bloodthirstiness - White Devil, Titus Andronicus and so on. I'm sure this was a Tourneur when I did it at uni...
